De La Salle Canlubang Math Championship 2006
Title : De La Salle Canlubang Math Championship 2006
Venue : Auditorium
Sponsor : College Department
Date : March 22, Wednesday
Time : 2:30 pm – 5:00 pm
Objectives:
1. Promote greater interest in Mathematics
2. Provide a venue for friendly, intellectual competition among students
3. Develop students for further competitions
4. Reward excelling students
5. Motivate other students to excel, especially in Math
Contest Mechanics:
1. The contest is open to all college students of De La Salle Canlubang. The elimination test will be held on March 10, Friday 11:00 – 11:30, venue: TBA. The test will be prepared by college faculty. It will be composed of thirty questions (problem solving, not multiple choice). Questions will be taken from General Math to College Math subjects that are common to all courses in De La Salle Canlubang, both for the eliminations and Finals.
2. A list of the top eight examinees who qualify for the Finals will be posted at least one week before the Finals.
3. The Finals will be composed of three rounds: Easy (20 questions, 3 points every correct answer), Average (15 questions, 5 points every correct answer), Difficult (10 questions, 7 points every correct answer, -2 for every wrong answer). For any round, if there is a question where only one contestant got the correct answer, that contestant will get double the points for the round. Buzzers will be used for the Difficult Round if they are available, in which case, the double bonus points will not take effect. In case of a tie within the top three contestants, sudden death tie breaker round will commence for those in the tie.
4. The contestant with the highest points after the contest will be declared the Champion, the contestant with the second highest points will be declared the First Runner Up, while the contestant with the third highest points will be declared the Second Runner Up.
5. Judges composed of college faculty will rule on any disputes. If there are any disputes, it should be raised by the contestant before the next question; otherwise the dispute is dismissed regardless of validity. Judges decisions are final and irreversible.
Prizes:
Champion: Gold Medal, DLSC Math Champion’s jacket, P2,000 gift certificate, name added to the perpetual trophy
First Runner Up: Silver Medal, P1,000 gift certificate
Second Runner Up: Bronze Medal, P500 gift certificate
All finalists get a certificate of participation.
